Baripada, Tuesday 24/3 A disaster relief and fire fighting drill was held at Sai Adams Graduate College, Baripada. The fire department, ODRAF and district emergency department played prominent roles in it. On this occasion, a meeting was organized under the chairmanship of Jitendra Pal, the chairman of the college. Mr. Bhabani Prasad Sahu, Deputy Collector of District Emergency Department attended the program as the chief guest and addressed the students. As one of the guests, Mr. Jagbandhu Mohanty, Project Officer of the District Disaster Management Department, emphasized on how to avoid various types of disasters such as lightning, flood, storm, waterlogging, and fire. As one of the guests, social activist and journalist Mr. Gaurdasgiri expressed the opinion that only courage and proper skill can save us from disaster. “Awareness, alertness and courage motivate us to face the calamity,” said Mr. Pal, the president of the college, in his speech. It was felt that fire and disaster management personnel are the true friends of the nation. Fire Department Officer Mr. Gopinath Naik and Arun Kumar Mahant of ODRAF and the staff demonstrated various techniques to deal with the disaster. In the end the vote of thanks was given by Ms. Snigdhashree Samal. Jayshree Mahant and non-teaching staff Kapilas Behera, Jagdish Sethi, Gayatri Pan, Monalisa Panda completed the major program. Volunteer students Chhatri Bhavani Shankar Singh, Smritmayi Giri, Radharani Behera, Likki Tudu, Sonali Mishra were in prominent roles.
