He resigned because he could not give time to the team. He was first elected to the Legislative Assembly from Pattangi seat in 1977 on a Janata Party ticket. Later in 1990, he won from this seat. Similarly, in 2000 and 2004, Jayaram was elected to the Assembly on a BJ ticket. In 2009, he was elected to the Koraput Lok Sabha from BJJ and became a vacant minister in Biju Patnaik’s cabinet. In 2017, he left BJ and joined Vajpayee. Similarly, in the last general election of 2019, he contested from the Koraput Lok Sabha seat and was defeated. Now he has resigned from the Congress again. It is said that Jairam is taking the leadership by forming the Punitive Mountain Development Council.
