The 164th birth anniversary celebration and poetry recital of Poet Gangadhar Meher has been held at Nuapada District National College in Anukully. The program was held under the chairmanship of College Principal Hitesh Kumar Sahu. Dr. Ashok Kumar Patnaik, Head Professor, Department of English, Gad Chandra Mishra was the chief guest of honour. Students Damini, Preetika, Komlika, Parohar, Manjulata and Sonia performed the welcome song. The keynote speaker portrayed Gangadhar as a poet of universal consciousness and described the poems ‘Khadyotar Khed’ and ‘Matridhoom’ as classical compositions. Similarly, the honorable speaker presented Gangadhar as an ancient and new poet as Sutradhar of poetry and ‘Tapaswini’ as an epic poem. Professor Gopigopal Gold coordinated the program while Professor Asha Meher delivered the welcome speech. Mamata Patnaik, Baidyanath Gardtia, Prakash Kumar Sahu, Kapildev Manigarahi, Da Meenakshi Das, Ishwar Patel, Abinash Chalana, Vajjit Kalta, Hemal Sa, Namanatha Tripathi, major lecturers and lecturers recited poems of Gangadhar Meher.
