On 25-09-2025, Baripada, a training camp related to the Sexual Harassment of Women (Prevention, Prohibition and Prevention) Act-2013 has been held in the conference room of the District Collector’s office in Anukully. The said camp was attended by Baripada Upazilapal Dr. Mercysindhu Parida, District LCC Chairperson Mrs. Sumitra Murmu, LCC Member Advocate Kaberi Mishra.
In the beginning, Mrs. Sasmita Mohanty, Program and Security Officer of the District Social Welfare Office gave a welcome speech and expressed the purpose of organizing this camp. Upazilapal D. Parida mentioned the need for the implementation of this law by the government and suggested that every employee in the office, both male and female, should perform their duties in a healthy environment without any unwanted sexual behavior or use. Then the LCC members went on to present the law in detail and discussed various issues such as what is sexual harassment in the workplace and its different types, what is called workplace, scope of workplace where sexual harassment occurs, who can complain under this law, who can complain to, who is protected under the law, the structure of ICC (Internal Complaint Committee) and LCC (Local Complaint Committee) and their scope of work, responsibilities and investigation process in relation to complaints, after investigation. Actions, further steps in case of unsatisfied action of the Committee etc. were thoroughly discussed and said that there is a need for wide public awareness for proper implementation of the Act. Because the more people are aware of the law, the less cases of sexual harassment there will be. He said that to prevent this, there is a need for the cooperation of people from all sections of the society. Then he cleared the doubts of the trainees through question and answer. Later, Mrs. Sasmita Mohanty and Program Officer of Kaptipada sub-district provided training on this law through PPT. In the program held under the direct supervision of Mrs. Niharika Mohanty, ICDS Cell Program Officer, Sukanti Sethi, Minty Sahu, Salmani Soren, Jayashree Hota, CDPO of various blocks, District Coordinator of District Women Empowerment Center Samanta Dakar and its staff, ICC members from various departments and members of voluntary organizations attended the training. Finally Mrs. Mohanty thanked Baripadaru-Gaur Dasgiri
