Koraput, 27/08: For the development of railway facilities in Koraput district, Pattangi MLA and leader of Congress MLA party in Odisha Assembly Mr. Ramachandra Kadam has written a letter to Central Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnab and has specially requested for the construction of new railway line. The proposed new line connecting Semiliguda, Duhari, Kotia Upakanti, Salur, Bobili Railway Stations from Koraput to Arku Railway Station via Semiliguda, Kunduli, Sadam, Chauga will provide convenience to the people. According to Kadam, Koraput district is a major tribal region and there is a serious lack of rail connectivity. Railways will help in the development of communication, transport and small scale industries proposed in Semiliguda area along with financial benefits to the Eastern Ghats. He further informed that even though these routes are under survey and pending by the Railway authorities since 1943, no action has been taken till date. Therefore, keeping in mind the long standing demands of the people of Koraput district, MLA Mr. Kadam urged the Railway Minister to take personal interest and take action.
