Malkangiri, 17/1/26: Department of Housing and Urban Development, Trade and Transport Chief Secretary Usha Padhi visited Malkangiri district for a day and reviewed various development projects. Mrs. Padhi reviewed the progress of various projects of the Department of Housing and Urban Development and Commerce and Transport in the conference room of the local district council. The Chief Administrative Secretary inquired about the various problems in the department and discussed with the officials. After reaching the district, he first visited Govindpali and reviewed the status of the bus stand. After that, the chief administrative secretary visited the newly constructed bus stand at Mathil. After reaching Malkangari, he visited the regional transport office and discussed with the officials and informed about the various problems. Later, the Municipal Council visited the newly constructed building of Malkangiri. Similarly, Ms. Padhi spoke to the sanitation workers working at the Compost Center under Swachh Bharat at Jabardasti Colony in Municipal Council’s MV 42. What are the problems of clean workers and how can their living conditions be improved are thoroughly discussed. Visited B.B. Guda tank in front of District Collector’s office and reviewed the water conservation project. The municipal council officer informed the secretary that there is a financial requirement of 2 crore rupees for this. The chief administrative secretary promised to prepare the DPR immediately and send it to the housing and urban development department and sanction the funds. He also supervised the progress of the construction of the bus stand in the city. Visited the food center near the bus stand and talked to the people. He also visited the airstrip and discussed its condition and problems in detail with Roads and Buildings Department engineers. He emphasized how soon the air strip would be operational. Finally, he visited the ideal cemetery run by the Municipal Council and saw its maintenance. District Council Chief Development Officer and Executive Officer Naresh Chandra Shabar and other departmental officials were present during the visit.
