Malkangiri, 11/2/26: District Magistrate Somesh Kumar Upadhyay visited Mathil Block and inspected various development projects. First of all, the District Collector reviewed the work of Amrit Sarovar, developed under Odisha, developed village in Kotameta village of Vejaguda Gram Panchayat. It is known that Mission Amrit Sarobar is a major scheme of the Government of India under which ponds are being constructed or renovated to alleviate water crisis in rural areas. The project is helping to increase rural income through water conservation, groundwater recharge and fisheries. Similarly, the District Collector saw the progress of the Kasturba Gandhi Girls School being built at a cost of 1 crore in Naikguda village of Naikguda village panchayat. The District Collector visited the Green Climate Tank project under VBG Ramji in Kadamguda village of Pangam Panchayat. Beautification, guard wall work of the said tank has been ordered to be completed soon. The District Collector also visited the paddy selling center at Pangam. There, the District Collector discussed with the farmers and came to know about the problems of their facilities. The District Collector has reviewed the status of the under-construction building for the Gram Panchayat Level Federation run by the Odisha Livelihood Mission at Pangam. The District Collector has directed the departmental officers to complete the work. Supervised the work of rural library during its construction at Mathil. Vidyo informed that soon after the completion of the library furniture work, young women will be able to use this library. The District Collector inquired about the progress of the post office building being renovated in Matheli. Similarly, the District Collector has ordered the completion of the food court work at the new bus stand constructed in Mathil. Mathil visited the sewing training center run by ITDA for self help groups in the block office premises. The District Collector inspected the ongoing works under Chief Minister Kamdhenu’s plan in Baliguda village of Udulibeda Gram Panchayat. Finally, the District Magistrate ordered the construction of the culvert on the way to Garia Duduma. As the popularity of Garia Duduma increases, so does the number of tourists. Therefore, the BDO has been directed to take action on its beautification on priority basis. For this, a DPR has been prepared and sent to the tourism department. By which the own revenue of the village panchayat will increase, said the District Collector. Immediately, the District Magistrate called that it should be the responsibility of all of us to keep the area around this beautiful waterfall plastic-free and maintain proper sanitation. Among others, other departmental officials including Mathil BDI Pramod Behera were present.
