Malkangiri, 16/11/25: National Press Day was celebrated today by the district administration and the district information and public relations department. The event was held at the local district council conference room. Additional district governor General Somnath Pradhan was the chief guest while Chief Development Officer and Executive Officer Naresh Chandra Shabar and additional district governor Rajsab Vedbar Pradhan Manchasin were present. National Press Day is a symbol of media freedom and responsibility towards society. It was on this day that the Press Council of India started working. The fourth pillar of democracy is the media. Journalists are the watchmen of the society. If this watchdog neglects its duty, the society cannot move forward. The role of the Indian media is unique in the field of renewal of the post-independent India, starting from the freedom struggle of the country. On the occasion of National Press Day celebration, the guests expressed their opinion that due to the contribution of the media in the country’s development and development, the media has become the hope of the public. It is the responsibility of everyone to provide clear data-based news for a healthy democracy. Similarly, the media representatives expressed the opinion that social media has had a lot of impact on the profession of journalism today. All of them also said that impartial and truth-based news can reach people. District Information and Public Relations Officer Pramila Majhi delivered the welcome address and conducted the programme. The students of Jawaharlal Neboday School performed welcome music. On the occasion of National Press Day, awards were given to the speech contestants organized at the college and school level. Harekrishna Kirtanya and Ranjan Mohanty assisted in organizing the event.
