Jharsugudar, 16.11 (Fast News Odisha): ‘Media has been given the title of the fourth pillar in democracy. It is the duty of the media to make everyone aware of how to build a healthy society by making use of it. Due to competition in news coverage, many wrong news are being exposed. So it is important to check the truth of the news before serving it.’ Additional District Collector Brajbandhu Bhoi expressed these views while participating as the chief guest on the occasion of National Press Day organized by district administration, district press club and MCL at Ib Valley Rabindra Bhawan in Brajrajnagar today. Faculty Dr. Pushpanjali Sahu attended the program as the keynote speaker and said that it is the duty of the media to provide informed news to the society. Media is the watchdog of democracy. Be careful not to spread false news. It is the responsibility and duty of the media to make society aware and disciplined. The definition of media investment has changed over time. But technology-based media must be responsible for how they are accessed. Dr. Sahu said that it is a call to the media to serve impartial news without succumbing to pressure. Additional SP Madhusikta Mishra, who was the guest of honour, highlighted how fake news is affecting the society. The representatives of the media suggested how they can be a tribute to everyone through news service and how they can set an example for the next generation by providing good news and accurate news as the fourth pillar of democracy. On this occasion, the State Government’s Revenue and Disaster Management Minister, who could not attend the program, sent his message and conveyed his best wishes.
