Malkangiri, 22/11/25: District Information and Public Relations Department today celebrated the district level Laxman Nayak Jayanti at Girls Higher Secondary School. On this occasion, Additional District Collector Vedbar attended as the chief guest and paid tributes to the martyr. Shri Pradhan said that at every stage of the freedom struggle, the tribal community of Odisha has overcome all obstacles and never forgot to show their patriotism, nationalism and self-respect. He further said that the extraordinary patriotism, indomitable courage and fearless fighting life and infinite sacrifice of tribal hero Laxman Nayak, who led the India Quit Movement in Koraput district, is a matter of pride and glory for this nation. The Additional District Magistrate called upon the students to be inspired by the ideals of Laxman Nayak and to worship him every day. District Information and Public Relations Officer Pramila Majhi welcomed everyone and conducted the program. The program was organized under the supervision of school president Dushmanth Jena. Mr. Jena said that Laxman Nayak was a freedom fighter and social reformer. Laxman Nayak was born on November 22, 1899 at Tentiligumma in Koraput district. He raised his voice against prejudices like anti-drugs, child marriage, caste system and sacrificial system. In the same way, faculty members Indurekha Patnaik and Ratnakar Das also spoke about the biography of Laxman Nayak. Harakrishna Kirtanya assisted in organizing the event. Among others, all the teaching faculty and students of the school were present.
