Nabarangpur, (Ranjit Naik) Date: 04.01.2026 Rikh: Two-day 4/1 and 5/1 District Level Fisheries and Animal Resources at the local RCD High School Grounds for the overall development of fisheries and animal resources in the district, increase of income and self-employment of farmers and animal husbandry. Mela-2026 has been organized! The fair was held under the chairmanship of Additional District Collector Rajsab Biswajit Burman and was officially inaugurated by the Hon’ble Minister of School and Public Education Nityananda Gond as the chief guest! Dabu Village MLA Manohar Ranhari, Nabarangpur MLA Gauri Shankar Majhi, Jhari Village MLA Narsingh Bhatra, Nabarangpur Mayor Kunu Naik, Sub District Magistrate Prakash Kumar Mishra, District Chief Veterinary Officer Radheshyam Laik, District Fisheries Officer Bishnu Charan Kishan Pramukh attended the stage as guests of honour. First Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) Biswatji Burman welcomed everyone. The purpose of this fair is that the unemployed young women and girls of the rural areas can stay in their own areas and become self-reliant with economic growth by using various schemes of the State and Central Government Fisheries and Animal Resources Department such as the Chief Minister’s Agriculture Enterprise Scheme, the Chief Minister’s Fishery Welfare Scheme, the Chief Minister’s Kamdhenu Scheme, the Prime Minister’s Fisheries Scheme and will contribute to the economic development of the state! In his speech, the chief guest welcomed the farmers present in the district and called them to get involved in various schemes of fish and livestock, not only to cultivate rice, corn, oilseeds, but also to raise cattle, fish, goats, pigs and chickens for their economic growth! In their speech, the honorable guests said that fish and animal husbandry farmers of the district should take the subsidy of various schemes to help their economic growth and help others in employment. On the occasion of the fair, the chief guest gave monetary awards to 4 farmers of the district. G. Hariprasad of Umerkot block for pig rearing, Topiram Naik of Raighar block fish pond scheme, Ma Budhi Thakurani women self help group of Nandahandi block fish farming in village panchayat pond, Devi Durga women self help group of Nabarangpur block were awarded by the chief guest for outstanding improvement in goat rearing! Similarly Rs 32 lakh to Survi Gochaya of Kenduguda block, Rs 294 lakh to Chumuki Santa of Papahandi for digging a new fresh water pond, Rs 108 lakh to Tankadhar Goud of Kosagumuda for cattle rearing, Rs 154 lakh to Jai Hanuman Women Self Help Group of Nabarangpur for fish farming in village panchayat pond.
