Nabarangpur, (Ranjit Naik) Date: 19.02.2026: Yesterday, Date: 18.2.2026, a joint review meeting of the Department of Health and Social Welfare has been held in the local Mission Shakti Conference House under the chairmanship of District Governor Maheshwar Swayku regarding the health and nutrition of children and women in the district! In the meeting, the District Governor reviewed the various indicators of the health and women and children departments and emphasized on preventing early marriage and early pregnancy! In some parts of the district, if such an incident occurs, the concerned family members were given strict orders to file an FIR with the police immediately! Due to the high number of formal births in remote areas of Tenthalikhunti and Jharigao blocks, the District Collector expressed deep concern and asked the relevant officials to take strict action by visiting the field. He directed the District Health Department to send a proposal to the State Mission Director, ordering the implementation of additional “Mother House” there! To further implement the “Take Home Ration” nutrition program, the Upazilapal was ordered to conduct a sudden inspection of the Anganwadi centers and implement it properly! Giving the highest priority to prevent maternal and child deaths in the district, the district magistrate said that if any employee’s negligence is proved in the case of maternal deaths, departmental action will be taken against them immediately! In the meeting, 2 maternal deaths were reviewed and necessary orders were issued! Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child and Adolescent Health programs were reviewed and specific instructions were given to improve indicators! Officials were directed to identify and send more severely malnourished (SAM) children to Nutrition Rehabilitation Centers (NRC) at Umerkot and Nabarangpur and ensure 100% bed occupancy!
