Kalahandi Makund Naik: (Fast News Odisha) 03.12.2025 Kalahandi district level International Day of Persons with Disabilities has been observed today. On this occasion. In the morning, a walkathon rally for the disabled people of the district started from the premises of the District Collector’s office and ended at the District Disabled Rehabilitation Center. In this rally, various disabled organizations of the district, students of special schools, district social security department and other organizations were involved. Additional District Collector Tanmay Kumar Darban flagged off the rally. On this occasion, students of all special schools of the district, members of disabled organizations, volunteers, intellectuals, parents participated in the public meeting and award distribution ceremony organized at the local Red Cross Welfare Mandap. District Social Security Officer Dinesh Kumar Khanhar presided over the meeting as Chief Guest District Council Chairman Pushendra Singhdeo, Guest of Honor Additional District Magistrate Tanmay Kumar Darwan, District Council Chief Executive Officer Melimaya Padhira, District Information and Public Relations Officer, Khaldhar Nial, District Culture Officer Vivekanand Mahanand, Kalahandi Parliament Representative Jay Shankar Naik, District Additional Public Health Officer Dr Purnendu Shekhar. Suresh Chowdhury, District Disability Forum Chairman, Hemant Thandi, District Disability Committee Chairman, and Shovan Rath, District Muk and Deaf Association Chairman, joined as guests and mentioned the importance of celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and encouraged the disabled people present. In this program, artificial limbs were given to three disabled people, three wheelers were given to three disabled people. Prizes were awarded to the winners in sports, song, essay writing and drawing competitions organized earlier among the students of various schools. In the end, the students of the special school presented an interesting cultural program. The stage management was Olok Sahu, Ramesh Jena and Ms. Rajashree Priyadarshini, while Ramesh Jena gave the formal vote of thanks.
