Nabarangpur, (Ranjit Naik) Date: 05.2.2026 Rikh: On behalf of the Nabarangpur district administration, a district-wide right-wing hunting prevention act-2013 and punishment workshop has been held at the local Mission Shakti Assembly Hall! Upazilapal Prakash Chandra Mishra started this workshop by lighting the lamp! The District Social Welfare Officer Draupadi Kaher is giving information about the purpose of the workshop and falling prey to the superstitions of right-wingers and gunas, many people’s wealth and lives are being destroyed in the society! He said that this workshop was organized in collaboration with the women and child development department of the state government and the social welfare department of the district administration to alert people to avoid these blind beliefs and bad practices. In order to prevent the violence and torture of women due to this superstition, the Upazilapal directed the CDPOs to warn about witch hunting as a state and non-bailable crime under Odisha’s Witch Hunting Prevention Act 2013 through the bandits in all the villages! District Chief Medical Officer Malai Kumar Pradhan, District Information and Public Relations Officer Manoj Kumar Behera, District Child Protection Officer Suresh Patnaik, Additional Mars Officer Bharat Chandra Sahu were the guests of honor in this workshop coordinated by UNICEF District Coordinator Fakir Charan Raut on the crimes committed by self-proclaimed virtues and self-interested persons in the name of right-wing violence and abuse against prominent women. In many cases, there are examples in our society of killing single women with such right-wing titles for the purpose of grabbing their property! District Social Welfare Department Women Protection Officer Rama Patnaik, Sub-Divisional Program Officer Pusparani Patnaik, Additional Security Inspector Saroj Poornam Kispatta joined as key facilitators to discuss prostitution as a non-bailable offense under the Odisha Prevention of Sex Poaching Act, 2013 and punishable by imprisonment for up to 3 years if a person commits sexual harassment or instigates or incites others to commit sexual harassment. He informed that there is a system to be punished with a fine of 1,000 or more! Among others, Prohibition of Child Marriage Officer, Shasmita Mohanty, Sanjukta Queen Behera, Sudarshani Rath, Yamuna Bhatra, Birja Mohini Pangi, Women Empowerment Hub Sarita Queen Pani, Sasmita Pan, Supervisor of District Social Welfare Department, heads of various community castes and key workers of Onestop Sakhi were present and discussed in the workshop.
