
Nabarangpur, 1.3.2026: Both the central and state governments have taken extensive and innovative measures to prevent cervical cancer across the country. In this context, JSC Prime Minister has launched this vaccination program in Nishul on 28.02.2026 across the country. Similarly, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi also launched this vaccination program in the entire state on 1.03.2026. On this day, district level HPV vaccination campaign has been launched at local urban primary health center in Nabarangpur district. Nabarangpur MLA Gauri Shankar Majhi joined the program as the chief guest and officially launched the HPV vaccination campaign. In this vaccination launch meeting, the District Governor. Maheshwar Swayam, A. d. P. H. O. (FW) Dr. Malla Tripathi, District Education Officer Chhatrapati Sahu, Medical Officer Dr. Dear Ranjan Nanda was the chief guest. Priyanshi Rath was given the first HPV vaccine in Nabarangpur district in the presence of everyone. The vaccine was given to the girl’s mother, Banishree Panda, a female health worker at the Urban Primary Health Centre. Distracting videos about the vaccine were circulating on social media. But the health worker ignored all these misleading messages and got her daughter involved in the vaccination program of Nabarangpur district and administered the first vaccine. According to the health workers, the central and state governments are providing this vaccine free of cost to all the people of the country, so all the parents have given the message to give this vaccine to their own comfort without worrying about the misleading message. A total of 14 girls (14 to 15 years old) were given HPV vaccine in the launch program. A total of 12375 girls (14 to 15 years) of Nabarangpur district have been targeted for HPV vaccination in Nishul within the next 3 months. Adolescent girls born between 1.3.2011 and 1.6.2012 and those who have completed 14 years but not completed 15 years are eligible for this vaccination. This vaccine will be given to girls in 30 government health institutions, 18 primary health centers, 10 group health centers, 1 sub-district hospital and 1 urban primary health center in 10 blocks of the district. The HPV vaccine protects against human papillomavirus infection, the main cause of cervical cancer. The District Collector said that the main objective of this vaccination campaign will be achieved and all the eligible school going girl beneficiaries will be given the HPV vaccine with special publicity. The Chief Guest Hon’ble MLA appreciated the Prime Minister’s pioneering initiative to prevent HPV infection nationwide and emphasized on its 100 percent vaccination to protect all eligible adolescent girls of Nabarangpur district from cervical cancer in future. ADPH and Dr. Tripathi spoke on the objectives of the HPV vaccination campaign and the preparedness of the health department. DPM (NHM) Shankar Acharya presided over the meeting. DW and Rabindra Palka, DIPR and Manoj Behera, AD Blue and Bharat Chandra Sahu, Anganbadi workers, Asha workers, Women Healing Society members, media representatives were present in the program.
