Under the chairmanship of Nuapada District Collector Madhusudan Dash, a review meeting was held in the conference room of the office of Public Health Department, Urban Water Supply Department. Additional Chief Engineer E. Public Health Division, Bhavanipatna Subrata Kumar Das presented the various measures taken by the department. The review revealed that 19072 people were connected to 2866 water connections from Tikhali Dam in Khadyal town, 24016 people were connected to 3376 water connections from Patora Dam in Khariar Road town and 20522 people were connected to 2288 water connections from Patora Dam in Pada Nua. Drinking water is being provided l Now 5 projects have been taken up for urban drinking water supply l Now 2 projects are going on in Kharia road which will be completed by the end of March l This will benefit the people of 6, 7, 8, 9 and 12 wards of the city l The cost of these two projects is Rs 578 lakh and 183 lakh respectively l In addition to this 3 new water supply projects will be started in the district soon l Rs 20 crore for Khadial city It is planned to supply water to Nuapada town at a cost of Rs.17.91 crores and to Khariar Road town at a cost of Rs.17.12 crores l This project will be implemented and 24 x 7 drinking water facilities will be provided to the city residents l Nuapada Tehsildar will take steps to identify the place for laying water supply pipes on the side of Khariar Road national highway l The District Magistrate has directed the engineers to solve all drinking water problems in urban areas before summer. Local councillors, public representatives will be involved in the water supply program. The District Collector said that the departmental machinery will take steps to solve their drinking water problems through a WhatsApp group with the stakeholders.
