A village meeting was held today regarding mining in Serubandh village under Patangi block of Koraput district. This Gram Sabha has been strongly opposed by the Seruband Security Committee Association. The employees of the mining company who came to attend the Gram Sabha were chased away from the village by the villagers shouting ‘go back’ in the presence of the police. The villagers have complained that the environment and livelihood will be affected by mining. Due to the incident, Tanabha Mahal has been formed in the area.
