Baripada – Tha:- 06/12/2025 Shanta Dasnupattanaik, a senior engineer and prominent poet of Rikh Mayurbhanj, passed away at the age of 84 at the residence of his son Samvit Dasnupattanaik in Hyderabad. At the last moment, his sister-in-law, eminent poet, artist Alaka Daspattanaik, son Samvit, daughter-in-law Ishita, two grandsons Ayushman and Suryashan, eldest daughter Sunya, eldest daughter-in-law Sanjith were present and wished the departed soul peace and concluded the cremation with tearful tributes. Dibangat Shantanu worked diligently as an engineer in Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd., Talcher Thermal and got promoted to the head office in New Delhi. There his multifaceted talent developed. Sri Jagannath of Delhi was a skilled organizer of the Temple Parliament and held many notable programs and had a keen interest in literature, art and culture. Later he was transferred from Delhi to Nagpur branch as General Manager and later retired from General Electronics, Mumbai holding a senior position. After his retirement, he worked as a senior consultant for the Cromptron Company. Due to an accidental spinal cord injury, he was under treatment for a long time and finally passed away at 5 am on the 4th of this month. He was born on April 6, 1942 at Old Hat Sahi in Baripada. He is the eldest son of late father Satish Chandra Das Patnaik and mother Sangatha Bishnupriya Daspatnaik, while his younger brother is retired English professor, eminent poet, literary Sanath Daspatnaik, music lover sister Asammitra Rai, brother is noted chartered accountant, cricketer Pranab Das Patnaik and youngest brother Odisha Mancha and film world. Renowned actor, writer and director Chinmay Daspattanaik is well established in his own field. On Shantanu’s departure, his family is in mourning, and the shadow of mourning has been played in the palace of relatives and friends.
