Kandhamal, (Fast News Odisha): A large-scale campaign has been launched by the police against illegal cannabis cultivation in Tikabali area of ​​Baliguda sub-district of Kandhamal district. In this context, under the leadership of Tikabali police station officer Pragya Rithambara Kara, with the joint cooperation of police administration, unemployment and revenue department, the illegal cannabis trees in about 86 acres of forest land have been cut and burnt. According to the information, there were reports from police sources of widespread cultivation of ganja in various areas including Adakhol, Dungisahi, Upapkhol, Ladasahi, Bilabada, Dasaguda and Kankujhar panchayat gangs under Tikabali police station. On the basis of this news, the police and the unemployment department have cleared and burnt the cannabis trees worth lakhs of rupees from 86 acres of land. The public is repeatedly warned by the police to refrain from this illegal cultivation. Despite this, some people continue the business by taking the law into their hands in the hope of higher profits. Tikabali Police Station Officer has informed that a case has been filed against the person concerned under Section 20A of NDPS. It has been clarified by the police that such repressive campaign will continue in the coming days. Tikabali Tehsildar Harish Chandra was present as Chief Magistrate in today’s campaign. Along with this, Tikabali Thana SI Avni Pradhan, Panchanan Malik, unemployment department staff, home guards and SOG jawans were involved and helped in cutting the ganja trees.
