On Thursday, the Forest Department arrested two youths and took them to court for allegedly killing Hanu monkeys and posting them on Instagram. Such an incident has been seen in Nerga area of Salaguda Panchayat under Baliguda Forest of Bankhand, Baliguda, Kandhamal District. According to information, a video of two youths killing a Hanu monkey and holding its cub in Naregaon area of Salaguda Panchayat under Baliguda police station went viral on Instagram. Taking the incident seriously, Baliguda Forest Officer B. Subash investigated the incident with his staff and the two accused involved in the incident were arrested and taken to court. It has been informed by the forest department that the two arrested accused were Hanna Mallik and Jaydev Mallik of Salaguda Panchayat Nerga under Baliguda block.
