
Malkangiri, 24/3/26: On the second day of her visit to Malkangiri district, Honorable Member of Orissa State Child Rights Protection Commission, Sujata Naik reviewed various government schemes and their protection systems. On this occasion, a massive public awareness campaign has been launched to rid the district of child marriage. Today, the members first visited the MV-03 Anganwadi Center and supervised the food and other facilities provided to the children there. He then visited Tamsa Ashram School and Malkangiri Government Girls High School. There, he emphasized on the proper implementation of the Right to Education Act and directed to ensure the safety of children. Attending the Panchayat Level Child Welfare and Protection Committee meeting held at Tamsa Gram Panchayat, members said that child marriage is a flagrant violation of child rights and it is not acceptable at any level. Exploitation-free life is the birthright of every child. In the meeting, he warned everyone that strict action will be taken against crimes like employing child labour, forcing them to beg or using children in drug trade. MP Representative Sanjay Sarkar, District Welfare Officer Srinivas Achari, District Child Development Officer Narayan Das and District Social Welfare Officer Gauri Naik were prominently present and participated in the discussion. The meeting expressed the hope that everyone will cooperate to rid the district completely of child marriage.
