Nabarangpur, (Ranjit Naik) Date: 19.08.2025 Rich: A meeting has been held in the local Mission Shakti Conference House under the chairmanship of District Governor Maheshwar Swaymen to reduce the migration of workers during the crisis! Many people from the district are working as laborers in Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala etc. and are being exploited by employers at the workplace, facing various problems, suffering from diseases, accidents, premature death, getting low wages and being cheated due to ignorance about their safety and rights! With the discussion of these problems, the Interstate Migrant Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1979 discussed various arrangements, the license of the labor developer! Equal wages for equal work of men and women, provision of proper housing, toilets, drinking water, reporting of exploitation to the labor officer of the district or the labor officer of the state, immediate medical assistance in case of worker’s accident, physical illness, transportation and food expenses for the employees were discussed on how these issues can reach every village panchayat! 1555368 (within the state) and helpline number 18003456703 outside the state will be notified to everyone! As the number of workers in the district is almost high and the workers are leaving voluntarily or through licensed developers and are harassed due to any accident, physical illness, abuse, torture, death, district governor Dr. Maheshwar directed the district labor officer to create widespread awareness with emphasis on miking in the district through awareness chariots, posters, banners, leaflets, labor wall, miking at the village panchayat level! In each block, the PEOs prepared a labor register to record all the data of how many workers are working from the block and for this, the labor officers were ordered to go to the block to supervise the work and give a report! In this way, the district labor officer, with the help of the police, ordered to stop the bus that is carrying illegal laborers to distant states, and asked to report it every month!
