Baripada on 22/12 (Fast News Odisha) The intervention of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has been sought on behalf of the Bijujanta Party of Mayurbhanj district in the construction of a massive inter-state bus stand at Palabani in Baripada city. On Monday morning, NY Mayurbhanj District BJJ president and former minister Sudam Marndi has given a demand letter to the Chief Minister through the party leader Hemkant Sai. The work of cutting thousands of trees has started from 17th to build the bus stand. The site selected for the new bus stand is a dense green area. Abundant with trees ranging from shrubs to valuable trees, the city acted as a source of oxygen. But the decision of the district administration to set up a new bus stand unilaterally without consulting the local people, forest protection committee and conservationists has shocked the local people and environment lovers. If the felling of trees is stopped for the construction of this new interstate bus stand, the forest area in Baripada will decrease and many environmental problems will arise in the future. Earlier, the district administration had identified a suitable land at Murgabadi under the Baripada Circle Jail and planned to construct a new bus stand there with adequate compensation. But it is unfortunate that the administration unilaterally decided to set up a bus stand in deep forests without a detailed study. This is in violation of Odisha Forest Act 1972 and existing regulations. In which trees were felled, replanting at the rate of 1:10 is mandatory. No plan has been revealed yet. The Apex Court has also ordered to protect these trees even if they are not identified as forest species. In order to maintain responsible governance, the BJJ has requested the Chief Minister to immediately stop tree felling and shift the project to vacant government land in Baripada until a detailed plan for replanting and other related issues is prepared. On behalf of the party, district council chairperson Bharti Hasada, former deputy speaker Sanand Marandi, former minister Sarojini Hembram, former MLA Rajkishore Das, city mayor Krishnananda Mohanty, township mayor Samdas MCC Bank president Subramaniam Mohanty, acting president Jitendra Mohanty, former president Dekshisha Mohanty, former SDC chairman Dekshisha Marandi, Phamana Naik, Devidatta Das, Arun. Hundreds of workers including Barad, Mahesh Bhanjdeo, Diptilata Mishra, Savita Behera and Jharpani Sahu, Pangam Mohanty, Anant Das went on a march from the divisional office Bijubhavan and met the district magistrate and submitted a complaint letter. A single copy of the complaint letter has been given to the Secretary of Revenue Department, Forest and Environment Department, Odisha Forest Development Corporation Chairman and OSRTC Principal Secretary.
