
Kandhamal, (Fast News Odisha): Kandhamal district Phulbani fast track POCSO misdemeanor accused sentenced. A special court has convicted Ganesh Kaher and sentenced him to 20 years of hard labor and a fine of 20,000. The case was heard by Judge Kailas Chandra Swavik. If the fine is not paid, he will have to serve two more years in jail, the verdict said. Special P.P. of Fast Track Pocso Court by Govt. Banmali Behera was managing the case. According to the information, in 2023, the 14-year-old victim was studying in the hostel of a government high school. She was found pregnant during her monthly health check-up. After investigation, it was found that the accused Ganesh Kahar had frequent sexual relations with the victim during summer vacation. Later, the victim gave birth to a son at Brahampur Medical College. On the basis of the written complaint of the headmaster of the school, the Sadar police registered the case in 19/23 and arrested the accused Ganesh Kaher and proceeded to court. Today, Judge Kailas Chandra heard the case. The above judgment has been passed on the basis of the statement of 19 witnesses and the medical report. The Special PP has directed the District Legal Services Authority to pay Rs 6 lakh as compensation to the victims. Banmali Behera was managing the case.
