
Malkangiri, 1/2/26: The main district-level festival of 2025- 2025, which showcases the heritage, tradition, art, culture and lifestyle of the tribal people, was launched today. The Malyavant festival has been started to preserve the tribal art culture in Malkangari district and to promote it abroad as well as to know the artistry of Bahar artists of the state and the country. As today is the first day of the festival, this morning for the district-wide celebration, the dance team, Jodishank, Dulduli Baja, Banda, Koya, Parja, Bhumiya, Durua tribals Jemsa, Jodishank Baja and dances were taken to DNK Maidan Malyavant Mandap in a procession from the Jagannath temple in Sadramahkuma, Malkangari district. It is installed there. Malkangari MLA Narsingh Madkami, District Council Chairperson Samari Tangul, District Magistrate Somesh Kumar Upadhyay, SP Vinod Patil H, DFO Saikiran, Additional District Magistrate Vedabar Pradhan, Additional District Magistrate Somnath Pradhan, District Executive Development and Chief Officer Dasharathi Sarabu, Upazila Magistrate Duryadhan Bhoi, District Cultural Officer Santra Narayan Panda, District Information and Public Relations Officer Pramila Majhi, Municipal Council Chairman Manoj Barik, former Sahitya Academy member Ratnakar Das, MP representative Sanjay Sarkar, District Adivasi Samaj Maha Sangha President Patna Muduli, Ghenu Muduli, major district level block level officials, various political leaders, media representatives and public were present. MLA, District Collector, SP, Additional District Collector, District Council Chairman, Upazila Collector, Municipal Chairman along with other officials danced holding hands on the street along with the dancers. This Kalas Yatra traveled around the city and reached the Malyavant Mandap. In the main Malyavant festival on Sunday evening, there will be various cultural programs with famous singer Trisha Chatterjee, Sreejata Upadhyay, singer Sanat Manigarahi singing music and performing Ghumura, Koya, Odissi dance, Gotipu, Dhemsa dance.
