Kandhamal, Tha, 22/02: (Fast News Odisha): Police and Maoists clashed in Nitibadi forest of Raikia Thana Karda Panchayat under Baliguda sub-district of Kandhamal district. There was an exchange of fire from both sides, and it was reported that two militants were killed and many others were seriously injured. Even now, the identity of the deceased remains unclear as the search operation continues. The SOG team launched a search operation after receiving information about Maoist movement in Karda forest under Raikia police station of Kandhamal district. Meanwhile, the militants hiding in the forest opened fire. The security forces retaliated. Two militants have been killed in this encounter. A female cadre was among the dead. By the end of March, some Maoists have gone into hiding in Kandhamal district in the ongoing process to uproot the Maoists. The combing has been intensified for a few days. Raikia Thana Indragarh Panchayat also witnessed an encounter with police and mobs last week. In this, the Maoists gave Chhatrabhang. The combing operation is still going on in the said forest.
