
Baripada 23/2 A commemoration meeting was held at the local Hotel Ambika conference room under the chairmanship of Da Partha Sarthi Jena, President of the Institute, on the occasion of the 5th death anniversary of Bimal Lochan Das, a prominent social worker of the Cooperative Movement and former MLA of Baripada, in Mayurbindh, under the chairmanship of Dr. Partha Sarthi Jena. Bharti Beberta performed hymns of Shri Jagannath. Later, Bhagat Panda, editor of the institute gave a welcome speech and expressed very poignantly how Bimal Babu’s selfless life style and his work style was devoted to the society. In the said memorial meeting, senior journalist and environmentalist Vijay Kumar Agarwala in his speech said that Bimal Babu took responsibility in various fields and carried it out successfully. Odiya Jagran Sharat Chandra Naik, the founder editor of the forum joined as the keynote speaker and Rajkishore Acharya, the former president of Mayurbhanj Kendra Cooperative Bank, joined as the keynote speaker and explained in detail how Bimal Babu earned the honor of making Urban Bank the first place in the entire state. Later, the chief guest, Mayor Krishnananda Mohanty, in his speech praised the life of Bimal Babu and said how he got the privilege of becoming mayor first with his blessings and called him as his political mentor. President Dr. Jena gave a thoughtful speech about the philanthropy of Bimal Babu. In this occasion, a sentimental poem reading ceremony in memory of Bimal Babu was held by the senior poet. Padmanav Sahu and Poet Gopal Chandra Sao were co-ordinated. In this poetry recital, poets Birja Devi, Bhagwati Dash, Vaswati Panda, Miniti Dash, Sudhamayi Das, Bharati Beberta, Pushpal Lata Sahu and poets Gopal Chandra Sao, Harihar Behera, Narsingh Barik, Banmali Pan, Ajambar Panwari, Gopal Chandra Dutt, Dilip Kumar I, Minketan Mohanty Major recited many poets’ poems. In the beginning, Shraddha Suman was offered in the photo of Bimal Babu and two minutes of silent prayer was offered for the peace of his immortal soul. At the end, poet Pradeep Kumar Naik offered his thanks and was attended by hundreds of dignitaries and representatives of the media.
