Kalahandi: 27/02/26 (Babuli Horizon; Fast News Odisha) In the discussion, Odisha Water Power Corporation, while the Indravati Hydropower Project has played a major role in the state in terms of maximum power generation and distribution, doubts have been raised about the expertise of Odisha Water Power Corporation in Mukhiguda, which has been paid lakhs of rupees without correcting minor defects. Investigation revealed that a three-month bill of Rs 64.5 lakh has been paid to Tata Power Corporation by the Odisha Water Power Corporation for the purpose of regularizing the power supply due to the malfunctioning of the working transformer in the project. Electricity generated from this project is being paid to Gridco at 0.42 paise per unit, but now it has to be bought at Rs.6 per unit. Srisai Power of Jajpur has been entrusted with the task of repairing the transformer. It is worth noting that on the night of October 29 last year, a 20 MVA transformer installed in the switchyard adjacent to Indravati Paobar House became inoperable due to a mechanical fault. Several areas of Paobar House, Colony, Office, which depended on it, remained in darkness for three days. Subsequently, the power requirement was met by bringing in connections from Tata Power. While this transformer has been in continuous service for 25 years at Indravati Switchyard, it has not been properly maintained. Management errors are being discussed as the main reason for this stagnation. For this, it is said that two departmental officers have been transferred elsewhere on the charge of negligence. Regional development and regional development have been largely ignored since the collapse of the Indravati project in 2001; To the same extent, there are allegations of neglect in internal management and security. Paying bills of lakhs of rupees without fixing even minor defects in transformers seems to be a waste of public exchequer. The intellectuals say that the Odisha Water Power Corporation, which is in the limelight for the management of heaters, ACs and uncontrolled electricity used in hundreds of quarters, lacks vision.
