Malkangiri, 6 March 2026: Malkangiri Constituency Constituency MLA Narsingh Madkami made an important announcement at the MLA Constituency Development Committee meeting held at the District Council Conference Room today. He has decided to select three villages from each block – Malkangiri, Kalimela and Madhya and convert them into model villages. In the meeting, the MLA directed all the departmental officers to immediately conduct a detailed survey of the identified villages to assess the current development status, needs and gaps. It has been directed to prepare a clear plan of what needs to be done to fill this gap. In this process, the Group Development Officer of each block has been appointed as the Nodal Officer. BDIs will prepare a detailed DPR in coordination with all departments. Based on this DPR, identified villages will be developed as model villages through holistic development. In the meeting, MLA Mr. Madkami reviewed the progress of the current development programs of all departments and gave strict instructions to complete all the works within time. Along with this, he directed to start the work on the famous Mallikeshwar Temple and Bhairavi Temple in Malkangari immediately. All the departments have also been directed to identify the villages with water shortage in view of the coming summer season. Plans will be prepared for permanent solution of water problems in these villages. Apart from this, MLA Godbarish Mishra directed the concerned department to identify suitable land for implementation of the model school programme. The MLA has instructed to take a decisive decision on which villages will be accepted as model villages by holding discussions and meetings with the villagers. This initiative is considered as a laudable initiative for development, better living conditions, education and overall betterment of the tribal community in the rural areas of Malkangiri district. Local people have widely welcomed this visionary initiative of the MLA. All district level officials of the district were present in this meeting.
