
Baripada, March 11, 2026: 232 senior citizens from Mayurbhanj district went on pilgrimage to Puri today under the state government’s Shri Jagannath Darshan Yojana. Pilgrims have reached Puri by 7 state-of-the-art luxury buses of OSRTC from near Shaheed Smriti Bhavan. On this occasion, Additional District Collector Mr. Dukhbandhu Naik joined as the chief guest and launched the pilgrimage. Additional District Collector Mr. Naik opined that through this scheme of the government, the ultimate dream of Jagannath Darshan of senior citizens is coming true and this spiritual experience will make a difference in his life. Chief Development Officer Mr. Dharmanand Behera and District Information and Public Relations Officer Mr. Shishir Kumar Munduya, District Culture Officer Mr. Shubdashish Nayak were present as the guest of honor and greeted the pilgrims and wished them a happy and safe journey. For the safe journey of the pilgrims, on behalf of the district administration, as assistant officers, Debabrata Mishra, Tanmay Das, Rudra Kishore Swayum, Vinay Kumar C, M. Mahendra Soren and Karu Marandi have joined the major tour. Before the journey, the expert doctors of the District Head Health Center at Baripada Stadium examined the health of the senior citizens and declared them fit for the journey. The entire program was conducted under the direct supervision of District Tourism Development Officer Himanshu Mohanty. All the officers of the District Tourism Office actively participated in the program and made the program successful.
