Malkangiri, 16/3/2026: A farewell meeting of Malkangari district mayor Somesh Kumar Upadhyay has been held in the local district council conference room. The meeting was presided over by Chief Development Officer and Executive Officer of the District Council, Dasharathi Sarabu. On this occasion, Malkangari Security Superintendent Vinod Patil H, Additional District Collector (Revenue) Vedbar Pradhan and Additional District Collector (Administration) Somnath Pradhan were present. It is worth noting that Mr. Upadhyay has transferred from Malkangari and is going to take up new responsibilities as the Director of Handicrafts and Textiles Department. In just 8 months of his tenure in Malkangiri, he has become the favorite of the people of the district for his performance and philanthropic work. The guests opined that his vision will be remembered especially in the field of development and tourism of the Banda tribe. Mr. Upadhyay’s efforts in organizing public grievance redressal camp at panchayat level for the first time in the district were also commendable. During his short stay, he was instrumental in leading the district to the path of progress. All departmental officers, tehsildars, vidios and other staff members of the district attended this promotion meeting and wished him a bright future.
