Malkangiri, 23/3/26: Odisha State Child Rights Protection Commission member Sujata Naik visited Malkangiri district and reviewed the protection and rights of children. On this occasion, he gave priority to the district to eradicate child marriage completely. As Malkangiri district is a tribal dominated area, a special action plan is being prepared to prevent child trafficking, school drop out, child marriage and child abuse. Member Mrs. Naik said that special measures will be taken to ensure the safety of the children of the workers with child nutrition monitoring. Likewise, the work for the welfare of orphaned children will be accelerated through the ‘Mission Vasilya’ scheme. As children are using the internet in modern times, there is a need to create awareness about ‘digital safety’ among them, said the member. In the course of his visit, he visited Malkangari Model Police Station, ‘Mebangan’ Children’s Home and Special Adoption Center and supervised the care and safety of children. In this review meeting, Additional District Collector (Administration) Somnath Pradhan, Child Welfare Committee Chairperson Nistha Pradhan, District Child Protection Officer Narayan Das and employees of various departments and organizations engaged in child protection were present.
