Malkangiri, 19/5/26: A commendable step has been taken by the Malkangiri district administration to further strengthen the social service and welfare work. An important review meeting of the District Red Cross Society was successfully held today at the Malkangiri District Council conference room with the aim of increasing and sustaining the fund collection for the coming financial year 2026-27. Additional District Magistrate (Rajsb) Vedbar presided over this high-level meeting. In this meeting, Chief Development Officer and Executive Officer of the District Council, Dashrathi Sarabu and Deputy District Collector Duryodhan Bhoi were present and actively participated in the discussion. Addressing the gathering, Additional District Governor Mr. Pradhan highlighted the great ideals of Red Cross and said, “Red Cross fund is not just a government collection or a formal process, but it is a major help to save the lives of helpless, poor and sick people in times of calamity. Our priority should be how to reach every helpless person in the district at the right time. In the next fiscal year, all the public and private departments of the district should work together to fulfill the set goals and in this great work.” Must maintain complete transparency, determination and service attitude.” District Emergency Officer Pratham Ranjan Sahu and the departmental staff played a major role and provided all kind of support in the smooth running of the programme. Senior officers of all line departments of the district participated in the meeting and presented their views on various sources of fund collection, problems and future plans. A blueprint has been prepared on how to raise more funds and strengthen health and emergency services in the district, particularly by creating awareness among educational institutions, industry and the general public.
