
Malkangiri, June 4: A big step has been taken by the Malkangiri district administration to include every eligible citizen in the voter list and prepare a transparent election process. Today, a special awareness ride was launched from the premises of the District Collector’s office. Through this campaign launched under the sweep program of the Election Commission of India, the process of revising the special short voter list will be made more widespread. Malkangiri District Election Officer and District Magistrate Anakash Arvind Rajeshirke attended as the chief guest and flagged off the awareness ride. Chief administrative officers of the district were present during this mega launch. They included Additional District Administration and Election Registration Officer of 147-Chittarakonda Constituency Somnath Pradhan, Additional District Revenue and Additional District Election Officer Vedbar Pradhan and Sub-District Collector and ERO of 146-Malkangiri Constituency Duryodhan Bhoi including all departmental officers and employees of the Collectorate. On this occasion, District Collector Mr. Rajeshirke said that the value of each vote is priceless in a democracy. So that no eligible citizen of the district is deprived of exercising his right to vote, this special short voter list revision process has been initiated. This Awareness Rath will go from village to village to alert people and BLOs will distribute forms from house to house. The District Collector has requested the residents of the district to cooperate in this campaign to verify their names and register new names to help the administration in preparing a clean voter list. The administration has gone directly to the ground to reach out to the voters not only in the cities but also in the rural areas. After the launch of the chariot, District Collector Mr. Rajeshirke and Additional District Collector Rajswa reached MV-7 village under Malkangiri Constituency. There, they reviewed the distribution of forms for correction of voter list and registration of new names carried out by the booth level officials and were personally present and distributed the forms to the public. The district administration requested that all eligible persons should be included in the list by informing the local people about their democratic rights. The district administration has appealed to the public that those who have reached the age of 18 years or above or have any corrections in their voter card such as name, age, or address, should immediately contact the BLO of their area and take advantage of this special short voter card correction campaign.
