Baripada: Dated 04.10.2025 Under the Aadi Karmyogi Abhiyan launched by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, independent Gram Sabhas have been successfully organized in 1,363 villages of Mayurbhanj district. This initiative serves as an excellent and simple platform for tribal communities to express their opinions and participate in their holistic development. Through these Gram Sabhas, comprehensive village development blueprints and action plans are being prepared to empower communities in their own development journey. The campaign includes all 1,363 villages across the district, where single-window centers will be established. Every Sunday, people will have the opportunity to submit their development-related suggestions, grievances, and proposals, informed District Collector Hemkant Say. For effective implementation of the program, Block Development Officers (BDOs), Sub-Collectors, Project Administrators of all four ITDAs (Integrated Tribal Development Agencies) in the district, and officials from various departments have been appointed as nodal officers. The program aims to prepare Village Development Plans – 2030, establish single-window service centers, and mobilize local youth as Aadi Saathis (Tribal Companions). Discussions were also held on enhancing the participation of Aadi Karmyogis (tribal workers) at the Panchayat level. The District Collector stated that continuous efforts are being made through this campaign to bring improvement in the socio-economic conditions of tribal communities by focusing on

education, livelihood, housing, transportation, healthcare, drinking water, electricity, digital connectivity, and other basic amenities — while preserving the tribal identity and empowering local leadership. Panchayati Raj Institutions, Women Self-Help Groups, Youth Groups, and frontline workers are actively participating and fulfilling their responsibilities in this mission. Going forward, the District-level Committee will integrate the action plans of all 1,363 villages and form Village Monitoring Committees for inter-departmental coordination based on Gram Sabha priorities. Regular reviews will be conducted at both block and district levels to monitor the campaign’s progress and achievements. It is noteworthy that Dr. Barnali Deka, Director of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, visited Mayurbhanj district on September 17, during which she inspected Pandabila in Sukruli block and K.C. Pur Gram Panchayat under Baripada block. She interacted with villagers to understand their facilities and challenges and also participated in an orientation training camp for Aadi Sahayaks and Aadi Saathis held at Betnoti, where she discussed with the trainees. Similarly, Subhash Kumar, Section Officer of the Ministry, visited the district on October 2, attended Gram Sabhas organized at Talakpokhari and Jarda Gram Panchayat under Kusumi block, and interacted with villagers on various issues and development aspects.
