To further strengthen disaster management at the rural level, enhance community participation, and ensure its effective implementation at the village and panchayat levels, the government remains committed. In this context, the second batch of the Disaster Management Skill Development Training Camp for the working Panchayat Executive Officers of 404 panchayats in Mayurbhanj district was inaugurated on 25.11.2025 at the Panchayat Resource Centre Meeting Hall by the Additional District Collector, Shri Ishwar Chandra Naik. At the outset, District Project Officer of the District Emergency Office, Shri Jagabandhu Mohanty, delivered the welcome address, introduced the guests, and explained the objectives and focus of the training programme. On this occasion, Deputy Collector of the District Emergency Department, Smt. Shraddha Suman, elaborated in detail on how disaster management is carried out by the department. The chief guest and Additional District Collector, Shri Naik, spoke about the identification of vulnerable groups, preparation of appropriate plans, community participation, skill enhancement, and his own experiences in disaster management. He also expressed hope that such training programmes would make disaster management more people-centric. It was announced by DPO Shri Mohanty that the skill development programme would be conducted for two days, from 25.11.2025 to 26.11.2025. OSdma-certified master trainers—Shri Manoj Jena, Mahendranath Senapati, Pradeep Kumar Dasmahapatra, and Prabha Manjari Panda—conducted the training. A total of 50 Panchayat Executive Officers from Gopabandhu Nagar, Shamakhunta, Karanjia, Bijatala, and Sukruli blocks participated in the programme.
