
Baripada, 30/10/2025: The district-level celebration of World Thrift Day was held in a grand manner at the District Collector’s Goodwill Hall, organized by the District Savings and Financial Services Department. At the outset, District Savings and Financial Services Officer Abhaya Nayak delivered the welcome address and spoke about the history and significance of World Thrift Day. Chief Guest Additional District Magistrate Dukhbandhu Nayak urged people from all sections of society to participate in various small savings schemes launched by the Government of India. He also appealed to all citizens to enroll themselves under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana. Guest of Honour Additional Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Gochaet raised awareness on cyber security. Manoj Kumar Mohanty, Public Relations Officer of the Postal Department, explained various small savings schemes offered through post offices, while Rajesh Kumar Behera, Senior Manager of India Post Payments Bank, highlighted the importance of digital banking and payment banks. At the end of the program, the meritorious students who participated in the district-level speech competition were felicitated with certificates of appreciation by the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour. All officers and employees of the District Collector’s Office, along with small savings agents, attended the program. Among those who contributed to organizing the event were Basanta Kumar Mahapatra, Gautam Kumar C, Manas Mohanty, Sanjay Kumar Das, Madhumita Mohanty, Leela Pattnayak, Savita Mohanty, Rima Rani Das, and Sasmita Samal.
