
Baripada – Date: 09/12/2025 With the joint initiative of the Mayurbhanj Foundation and the Future Star Sports Academy, and with the cooperation of the Mayurbhanj Athletic Association, the National-Level Maharaja Sevens Rugby Tournament is going to be held on the 13th and 14th of this month at the Baripada Stadium grounds. On this occasion, a press conference was organized at the Belgadia Palace under the chairmanship of Maharani Rashmi Rajyalakshmi Bhanjdeo, the Chairperson of the Mayurbhanj Foundation. For the first time, this tournament is being held in memory of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanjdeo, and the Maharani provided detailed information about the event. In the men’s category, teams from Baripada, Future Star Sports Academy (Odisha), Kalinga Rugby Team, Future Hope Harlequin (Kolkata), Future Hope Jackal (Kolkata), Kolkata Police, Tamil Nadu Police, Jharkhand Hacks, Delhi Hurricanes, and Mumbai Magicians will participate. In the women’s category, teams from Future Hope, Kolkata Police, Kalinga Rugby, Saraswatipur Siliguri, Assam, Baripada, and Future Star Sports Academy (Odisha) will take part, informed co-organizer Divya Ranjan Das. The competition will be held from 9 AM to 4 PM each day, and spectators will get the opportunity to watch many international and foreign players from different clubs. Somanath Singh, the media coordinator of the Mayurbhanj Athletic Association, highlighted the extensive publicity and promotion of the tournament. Bibhudatta Das, a member of the Mayurbhanj Foundation, assisted in coordinating the event.
