Nuapada: An awareness camp on proper solid waste management has been held at Kalyan Mandap-2 in Khadial at District Legal Service Authority, District Administration and State Pollution Control Board, Regional Office, Balangir. District Magistrate Madhu Sudan Das, District Legal Services Authority Secretary Navnita Das, State Pollution Control Board, Balangi Regional Officer Babita Singh, Khariyar Bankhand Officer (Retired) Aziz Khan, District Education Officer Prashant Kumar Mohanty, Khadial Group Development Officer Milan Kumar Jhankar, Tehsildar Narsingh Gadba, Khadial Notified Area Council Executive Officer Swatdan Kakin Maharana, Community Education Officer Khadiyal Kahanu Charan Naik, Yar Sansthan Installer Mahendra Joshi, Authority’s Panel Advocate Alok Tiwari, and Jawar Mitras and Safei Mitras of Khadiyal were present and discussed the Environmental Protection Act, the newly implemented solid waste management regulations in the country, different types of solid waste as per 2026, solid waste management, waste segregation, recycling and generation. He informed the public about reduction and processing of waste, ban on plastic use, environmental cleanliness etc. On this occasion, a drawing competition was organized on the above. Students from various schools of Khadiyaal block participated in it. Certificates and prizes were awarded to the students. After the awareness program, a plastic waste cleaning campaign was organized and 534 kg of plastic waste was cleaned.
