Malkangiri, 28/4/26: Malkangiri district administration has launched a groundbreaking campaign for the development of education. A grand school land fair was successfully held today in FLC Hall premises under the informed instructions of District Collector Arvind Rajashirke. Deputy District Collector Duryodhan Bhoi presided over this special camp, Additional District Collector Rajsava, Vedbar Pradhan, District Welfare Officer Srinivas Achari, District Education Officer Chittaranjan Manigarahi, Assistant Forest Officer Mansun Khemundu were present. The process of granting land leases to 1,050 government schools in the district has been expedited on a wartime basis. Of the total 1,242 government schools in the district, about 85 percent of the institutions do not have their own leases, so important works like additional classrooms, toilets, and construction of walls have been left unfinished for years. To solve this problem, a forum was formed under the direction of the District Collector and the revenue, tehsil, block education office and school principals gathered at one place and checked the papers. The Sub-District Governor directed all the Tehsildars and Group Education Officers to complete the process of land identification, measurement and grant of leases for the remaining schools as soon as possible within the deadline of the application for 647 school leases to the Tehsil and 304 school leases to the Forest Department. It was emphasized to give land lease as soon as possible for Godbarish Model School. Similarly, the application process for 25 ashram schools under the district welfare officer is also going on. On the other hand, out of the schools located in forest lands, applications have been made to the respective forest officials for 304 schools in the Education Department and 13 ashram schools in the Scheduled Tribes and Castes Development Department. A detailed review has been conducted as to why the process of granting these leases is pending in various tehsils and forest offices. It has been directed to finalize the necessary forms, document collection and scheduling procedures like gram sabha through compromise discussions. The District Collector has given strict instructions to the revenue officials. The District Collector has a clear directive that no school should be deprived of development just because of lack of land lease. Administration and education department will work together in mission mode. This initiative of the district administration will be a milestone in strengthening the foundation of education in a remote area like Malkangiri. By having schools own land leases, government grants can be properly invested, providing a safe and modern learning environment to thousands of students in the district. Today, local intellectuals and guardians are praising the district administration for this visionary decision of the district administration. This mission mode of operation of the administration has set an excellent example in overcoming the administrative hurdles in the education sector. All Tahsildars and Block Education Officers among others were present and conducted the programme.
