Under the chairmanship of Nuapada District Collector Madhu Sudan Dash, a review meeting has been held in the conference room of the district headquarters regarding the various plans of the horticulture department. At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Director Horticulture Harakrishna Chand presented a detailed report on the progress of the department. Under the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission, new mango orchards have been created on 55 acres of land in five blocks of the district, while hybrid nectarine orchards have also been established on 5 acres of land. Drip irrigation system under the “More Production per Drop” scheme was targeted at 300 hectares, while 285 hectares have been implemented and 95 percent success has been achieved. Similarly, in Sichai, the target of sprinklers was 1300 hectares, while 1200 hectares were implemented with 92 percent success rate. Along with this, other schemes including the Integrated Mission for Horticulture Growth and the National Edible Oil Program were also reviewed. Five progressive and successful horticulturists of the district—Basudev Dharua (Boden), Tarachand Majhi (Komna), Dular Singh Majhi (Nuppada), Chatarsai Majhi (Khadiyal) and Lakhan Majhi (Sinapali)—were felicitated on the occasion. Komna Assistant Horticulture Officer Aradhana Shabar, Komna Horticulture Officer Gaurang Charan Pradhan, Nupada Horticulture Officer Govardhan Padhi, Khadial Assistant Horticulture Officer Mohit Kumar Naik and all the officers of Horticulture Department were present in the meeting.
