Under the direction and direct supervision of Nuapada District Collector Madhu Sudan Das, the district administration is continuing its investigation and crackdown campaign against illegal grain harvesting and illegal smuggling. A total of 46.30 quintals of paddy has been seized in two separate incidents in this series. In the first incident, 27.20 quintals of grain stored in 64 sacks were seized from Suresh Majhi’s house in Chhattisgarh-Odisha border Chhattisgarh-Odisha border village. The campaign was led by Jagjivan Majhi, Additional Tahsildar, Nuapada. Harishikesh Naik, ACSO Sadar Nuapada, Devendra Sethiya, Supply Inspector, Sinapali, Alwa Pota, Supply Inspector, Boden and Soumaranjan Mahanand, Supply Inspector, Khadiya were involved in the campaign. In the second incident, 19.10 quintals of paddy in 60 sacks was seized from a vehicle bearing Chhattisgarh registration number CG 06 GX 8554 during inspection in Dharambandha area under Nuapada block. The inspection drive was led by Kastuv Shah, Additional Tahsildar, Nuapada. Harishikesh Naik, ACSO Sadar, Nuapada and Shudashree Das, Supply Inspector, Nuapada were involved in the campaign. In both the cases, due to non-production of valid documents related to quantity and transportation of grain, the seized grain has been legally detained and further investigation is on. The district administration has informed that the district administration is continuing strict vigilance in the border areas against illegal harvesting and inter-state smuggling of grain.
