In Nuapada district, strict checks are being carried out by the administration in the border areas to prevent illegal paddy movement. In this context, 33.78 quintals of paddy was seized by the enforcement squad of the supply department in a drive near Kholna check post on Odisha-Chhattisgarh border. According to the information, police and RMC officials stopped the vehicle near Kholna check post on the suspicion of illegal transportation of grain from Chhattisgarh in a vehicle numbered CG 04 LJ 4552. The Civil Supplies Enforcement Squad was later informed. During the inspection, 33.78 quintals of grain packed in 10 sacks were seized from the road. Prathi Mahar, the driver of the vehicle, has been interrogated while further investigation of the incident is going on. Civil Supplies Enforcement Squad personnel including Sadar Assistant Supply Officer Harishikesh Naik, New Fabric Supply Inspector Subhashree Das and Comna Supply Inspector Purunchandra Raut were involved in the raid. The administration has informed that continuous inspection and vigilance by the Police, Civil Supplies and Regulated Market Committee (RMC) at all border checkposts will continue to prevent illicit grain movement in the district.
