Malkangiri, 7/4/26: A commendable step has been taken by the Malkangiri district administration to make girls self-reliant and courageous. A special swimming and self-defense training camp for girls has been started at Bandabakuli dam in the locality. Malkangari district chief Naglash Arvind Rajashirke formally inaugurated the camp and encouraged the trainees. In his speech on the occasion, the District Collector said, “Our main goal is to protect and empower girls.” Swimming is not only a form of exercise but also a life-saving technique. This training will instill courage and confidence in the girls, so that they can face any emergency situation with strength. 20 experienced coaches of Odraf team are providing training to the girls in this program organized under the direction of the state government. The training camp will last for 7 days with 30 girls participating in each batch. It mainly teaches swimming and various techniques to save life in case of drowning. Additional District Collector Rajaswa Vedbar Pradhan, SDPO Divya Jyoti Dallei and Deputy Collector Emergency Prati Ranjan Sahu were present and guided the girls during the inaugural ceremony. The administration has said that this training will be very helpful in saving one’s life and that of others in emergency situations. Senior Revenue Assistant Kuna Nayak assisted in organizing the event.
