
While the Rabi paddy collection process is going on in Nuapada district, a strict vigil is being kept on intra-state transportation of paddy and illegal entry. In this regard, 52 sacks of paddy were seized from a tractor near Junk river embankment on the Chhattisgarh-Odisha border during the joint night patrolling of Revenue, Supply and RMC officials. According to information, paddy was being transported from Parkom village in Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh to Kolda area of Nuyapada district of Odisha by a tractor without number plate. During the inspection, 52 sacks of paddy, amounting to about 19.12 quintals, were seized from tractor operator Siya Ram Patel. The seized paddy and related vehicles have been detained as per law while further investigation of the incident is ongoing. Regular inspection and patrolling in the border areas has been intensified by the district administration to prevent illegal grain movement within the state. It has been informed by the district administration that in order to make the Rabi paddy acquisition process transparent and orderly and to prevent the entry of illegal paddy from outside the state, such screening and inspection campaign will continue in the coming days.
