
Today was the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers regarding the 71-Nuapada assembly polls and candidates were given time to withdraw their nomination papers from 11.00 am to 3.00 pm. No candidate has withdrawn nomination papers. Therefore, there will be a contest between 14 candidates in the Nuapada assembly polls. 8 independent candidates including Mr. Jay Dholakia from Bharatiya Janata Party, Ms. Smanhangini Chhariya from Biju Janata Dal, Mr. Ghashiram Majhi from Indian ANC, Mr. Ramakant Hathi from Samajwadi Party, Mr. Hemant Tandi from Bahujan Rikshaan Party, Mr. Shukdhar Jaksena from Odisha Janata Dal, Mr. Asyathan Mahadan, E. Chakrant Jena, Mr. Bhuban Lal. Sahu, Mr. Kishore Kumar Bagh, Ms. Nita Bagh, Mr. Laxmikant Thandi, Mr. Bhaktibandhu Dharua and Mr. Lochan Majhi Major will contest in this by-election. It is worth noting that during the scrutiny of candidate letters, a total of 5 nomination letters were rejected. Those rejected are Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Shri Rajaram Sahu, Rashtriya Priyadh Party candidate Shri Sitaram Behera and three independent candidates – Shri Kamal Kumar Chhatriya, Shri Purkuttam Behera and Shri Bhujbal Adbang. Voting will be held on November 11th, counting of votes on November 14th and the election process will be completed by November 16th.
