Nuapada: Candidates for the Nuapada assembly by-elections have been verified in the office of Deputy District Collector and Returning Officer. A total of 19 candidates filed their nomination papers. Among them, the rejected candidates are Rajaram Sahu of Bahujan Samaj Party, Sitaram Behera of National Change Party and three independent candidates Puruchottam Behera, Kamal Kumar Chhatriya and Bhujbal Darbang. The candidature of three major political party candidates, Jay Dholakia from BJP, Snehangini Chhariya from BJJ and Ghashiram Majhi from Congress are still valid. The nomination papers of 8 independent candidates including Ramakant Hati from the Samajwadi Party, Hemant Tandi from the Bahujan Liberation Party, and Shukdhar Jaksena from the Odisha Janata Dal are still valid. During the inspection of the candidates today, General Election Inspector Prakash Bindu, VAPRES and Returning Officer Surmi Soren were present.
