Baripada Ta 28/10/25 Rikh Mayurbhanj District Representative’s Report A small festival that has been going on since time immemorial in Bihari culture. This festival has been cultivated in Vomdham in Baripada. Small pujas were held at 3 places on the Budhabalang arrow. Thousands of people were present near the podastia pole. This festival is celebrated for 4 days every year. On the first day, argya is offered to the sun by eating Arua food and lausula dal. On the second day, the festival is called Kharna. On this day, the bride observes a fast without food or water in the morning. Gud khiri is eaten with determination after the moon sighting in the evening. On the third day, the whole day and night fast is observed without food or water. Rituals are offered to the sun in Astamga swamp with fox pies and Nanadi fruits. On the fourth day, the fast is concluded by offering arghya to the rising sun with fruit cake and doing hommadi. It contains the ritual of worshiping the sun god.
