
Baripada, 30-10-2025 At 11 a.m. today, a district-level meeting was held in the Conference Hall of the District Collector’s Office, Baripada, on the occasion of the observance of Vigilance Awareness Week. The program was chaired by District Collector Shri Hemkant Say, with District Council Chairperson Smt. Bharati Hansda attending as Chief Guest, and Baripada Municipality Chairman Shri Krushnananda Mohanty, Mayurbhanj Superintendent of Police Shri Varun Guntupalli, and Balasore Vigilance Division Superintendent of Police Shri Arun Nayak attending as Guests of Honour. At the outset, Superintendent of Balasore Vigilance Division spoke about the objective and importance of observing Vigilance Awareness Week and highlighted the role and functioning of the Vigilance Department, including legal actions taken against those accused of corruption. In his address, District Collector Shri Hemkant Say stated that the role of youth is crucial in the fight against corruption and that they must be vigilant and committed to integrity. He emphasized that discipline and adherence to moral values are two vital aspects of life. He further remarked that true peace comes from honest work, and integrity is the highest virtue of life. If the younger generation nurtures this value, India will undoubtedly emerge as a developed nation in the future. Superintendent of Police Shri Varun Guntupalli, in his speech, stated that by staying away from corruption and cultivating honesty within, society can be freed from the disease of corruption and progress toward building a healthy and developed nation. On this occasion, the winners of essay, painting (cartoon), and slogan competitions held among school and college students as part of Vigilance Awareness Week were felicitated with awards and certificates by the Chief Guest, District Collector, and other dignitaries. Various departmental officers, teachers from educational institutions, senior citizens, members of self-help groups, lawyers, volunteers, and media representatives attended the meeting. District Information and Public Relations Officer Bikash Ranjan Mohanty delivered the welcome address and conducted the proceedings of the event, while Inspector Bikash Kumar Swain of the Baripada Vigilance Unit offered the vote of thanks. The event was successfully coordinated with the support of the staff of the District Information and Public Relations Office and the Baripada Vigilance Unit Office.
