Baripada on 14/11 Loknath Mishra has joined the work as the new Chief District Agriculture Officer of Mayurbhanj district. He has taken over from Gyan Ballabh Das, who was earlier in charge of the Agriculture Office at Baripada. Mr. Mishra was earlier working as Rairangpur Agriculture District Officer. He has joined here after being promoted as Chief District Agriculture Officer. In his response, he said that he will do his best to improve agriculture and farmers and to make various agricultural and related schemes accessible to every farmer. Mayurbhanj is a big district but it is far behind in agriculture, in this district the farmers are tied up after the paddy cultivation and most of the farmlands are fallow. Be it the agriculture department, or all the NGOs working under this department, their activities, haste and indifference of the departmental staff are raising many questions about the failure of this farming work. The government’s Malmal scheme is out of reach, the lack of commitment of the staff and officials of this department is being questioned and it is being criticized by the intellectuals and the public. Only time will tell, if it can be successfully implemented, Mayurbhan’s farming will be successful. On this occasion, all the officers and employees in the office welcomed him with flowers.
